What is Sonship?  It is the recognition that God in Christ had a plan from before the foundation of the world to call those born of the Spirit, son. (Romans 8:23) When did Sonship begin? Before the foundation of the world.(Ephesians 1:4, Revelation 13:8).  God made a covenant with God before the earth began to make man in His own image; sons of God. A son is neither male nor female(Galatians 3:28).

Who was the first son? Adam.(Luke 3:37).  Adam walked with God in the cool of the day and enjoyed open fellowship and communion with God until he chose to disobey God.  Adam gave up Sonship and the result was he lost the status of son and acquired the status of an orphan. He gave up communion with His Father(Spirit to spirit), severed the relationship, resulting in the separation of the Father and His son, Adam.  The enemy's scheme was to separate Adam from God; the son from his Father.  We too have the same enemy who hasn't changed his focus.  It was the enemies plan from the beginning to separate a son from His Father and he continues this attack to this day.

Jesus, the second Adam, the Son of God, came to show us the Father and Son relationship. He was the exact representation of the Father and gave us the example of what was meant for us to have from the beginning.  He Fathered the disciples, and showed them the love of His Father.  By dying for our sins, and then being resurrected from the dead, now, we who are born again of the Spirit and believe, regain what was lost by Adam...our Sonship.  We now can have open fellowship (communion) with our Father in Heaven, through His Spirit, moment by moment.(Isaiah 55:2-3, John 6:35, Romans 8:14, Galatians 4:4-7)

In order to begin the process of regaining our Sonship, the foundation must be built. Any foundation must be solid and unshakeable to hold up the building. Our spiritual foundation is Jesus who shows us the result of spiritual maturity, which is to become the exact representation of our Father in Heaven.  This foundational building is known as the kingdom of God in you. This building is not made with human hands(2 Corinthians 5:1) but made and designed by God the Father, shown to us through Christ the Son, and revealed in us through His Holy Spirit as we walk by the Spirit.(Romans 8:5)

There is a transformation that must occur in the maturing of a son.  We must all go through the maturing process to become true sons.  God gives us the natural to understand the spiritual.  In the natural, we start out as a child and go through a maturing process to become mature adults.  The same is true for sons of God.  We start out as a Nepios son, very young, lacking wisdom, understanding of Godly principals and very self centered.  We have often been hurt and are not able to hear God for ourselves.  If you will not allow God to mature you, you will not be able to walk into your destiny, the purpose the Lord has called you to do and be on this earth.

Below are the stages of spiritual sonship with a short description:

-          Nepios - Infant, baby not old enough to speak or function

-          Paidion – Little child able to understand some Godly principles

-          Teknon – Teenager beginning to want to understand his/her destiny

-          Neaniskos – Young Adult beginning to rule his/her own life well

-          Huios – Fully matured son who represents his father well

If you desire to walk into your destiny, begin with the first stage of sonship, Nepios.  Even if you have been a believer for many years, it is highly recommended that you begin with Nepios.  Many of us have not been given understanding of important things that we need to mature us.  Therefore we have not been taught that there is a process for our maturing.  If you start in the middle of the maturing process, you may not have the basic understanding of the foundational principals to effectively move forward.

By clicking on the Foundation link, you can begin the journey of understanding the spiritual foundation.  Then read on to a more descriptive understanding of the levels of Sonship (Nepios-the infant son and concluding with Huios the mature son) to gain an understanding of the word "son" in its biblical context.

It is really important to walk through these steps of sonship with a spiritual father.  You will have many questions that will require a father with the wisdom to answer them.  If you do not have a spiritual father and you would like one, please use the Contact menu to start the process; which includes prayer, God's timing, and then actually receiving a spiritual father.

Blessings as you continue your journey to understanding your destiny in Christ!
